On Mafiascum they generally do the majority-or-NL thing, but there's a lot more time to reach majority. And they still often end up with "deadline whackes" which are basically "oh it's almost deadline, pile on this guy so we get a whack today!" We have had that kind of rule in a couple of games here I think, but it doesn't usually work out too well. It definitely is an interesting game to contemplate. If we played this game with some sort of "innocent until proven guilty" mentality, hardly anyone would ever get whacked. It is somewhat ironic how to stop nightkills, Town is willing to kill off many of their own. The valuing the fate of society as a whole over individual lives makes for a very interesting game.

Yeah, it's a good thing you have that. I just typed up a longer response to all of this, but this is probably not the right place for talking more in depth about this.
I don't know why I never thought much about this before though. It's a really interesting way to look at this.

Ok, I went back to the beginning because I'm still confused about some things. I feel like this is cryptic: "And Town can choose to vote for someone to have their memories returned each Day in addition to whacking in the Living Rattle if they so desire." What does it mean? Well, wait, I get that we can choose to vote for someone to have their memories returned the next day. Is that what the nominations mean? I just don't understand the "in addition" part.

It means the Living Rattle is in addition to a whack. And yeah, that's what the nominations are.

I must be stupid today. What exactly does the living rattle contain? Are we "in" the living rattle? Guys, seriously, I should have sat this out. I'm honestly not getting it.
So, we can nominate someone to share their memories and then turn around and whack someone else? Is that basically what it is saying?

There are two votes. 1. The Living Rattle vote, which is the nomination vote to have someone regain their memories. 2. The whack vote to whack someone.

I'm going to go and try to read the mafiascum thing to see if I can figure it out. I feel terrible asking you all a bunch of dumb (not plumb) questions.
