Mafia is the best forum game to ever exist! For general rules on how to play you can read THIS TUTORIAL
For more specific ways to play the game you can read EMSY'S GUIDE TO PLAY STYLES
That being said, there is a general set of behavior and rule guidelines that are for every game.
1. Treat others with respect.
For example, it is okay to be annoyed and agitated during a game. That's a normal human response.
NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR:
ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR:
The difference between these two posts is that one is a personal attack and the other is just an expression of annoyance. Someone thinking you are scum does not make them a bad person. Is it irritating? Absolutely, especially when you are town. But personally calling someone a name is not an appropriate way to handle the irritation.
2. If you find yourself perpetually whacked, maybe you should consider changing the way you play the game.
This is not a rule so much as a guide to help you gain a better experience from playing one of our games. It is perfectly acceptable to ask other players for help, after games have ended or in Afterlife. Not when you are still playing the game.
3. Chatting outside the game about the game is not acceptable.
You may not private message any user about the game that is currently going on if you are still playing the game. This is considered cheating.
4. You shouldn't be talking about current games while they are still ongoing and active.
This means do not talk about current games while on other websites. This could influence other players that are in the game. Wait until the game is finished.
Also, if you are playing another game on a different website, do not talk about it on this website. It may impact negatively on that game, as well.
5. Do not try to bypass the filters.
The filters are in place for a reason. Alternate spelling of curse words is not cute or funny, especially the hard swear words.
6. When you send private messages to people, be respectful.
Even though it's a private message, try not to be mean or disrespectful.
7. When receiving your role email, do not argue with the host about it.
Roles are randomized and they cannot change it. If you are unhappy with your role, do the best you can. Do not try to get whacked or self-vote because of it. It sucks the fun out of the game for everyone.
8. Make sure to follow all of the rules that the hosts sets.
Rules are not just what you want to follow, but what you must follow. If a rule is in place, it's there for a reason. Be respectful of the host's rules.
9. If you have a problem with a person, do not disrupt the game to talk about it.
Try to resolve it outside of the game or with the Host (which would be the best option if the game is still going).

You are such a *insert bad word* for thinking that.

OMG, That is so stupid. I can't believe you really think that.
