Trackers will know for sure if the person is mafia or not if they visit a person that died. Psychologists or detectives aren't completely sure, but there's a high chance their target is mafia because the odds of them being a vigilante is lower than them being mafia.

If Broncos was mafia, I think they would've claimed a different PR instead. That way, mafia would be able to just kill the counterclaim if there was one. But if there's a counterclaim for weak hider, it's not like the mafia can do anything about it because if they try to kill them it will fail.
