I'm not sure how to tag someone. I don't think I've done it before in this forum. @em I've been thinking about this setup and reading the other games like this. There's something that you might want to consider. Since you have both the benefit and misfortune of being conf town, you should think about pairing yourself with the gentleman whom you consider to be the most scummy for two reasons: 1) You would be more likely to survive Intermission; and 2) You would be able to help town by trying to obtaining a better scum read in your private chat. Like other ladies, you will want to avoid agreeing to a partner too soon as you will need as much time as possible to assess the dance floor. Obviously, there are also major disadvantages to this, the main biggie being that you would end up sacrificing yourself later in the game if you did end up thinking your partner was scum, which could be very detrimental to town if you prove to be wrong (like what happened to you last time when Hermi committed suicide and you were both town). That's a lot of pressure to put on you and you would have to be extremely positive that someone was scum before committing, so I'm sure everyone will understand if you decide not to go that route. I just thought it was something worth throwing out there. Another thing is that you probably should not tell anyone if you decide to go with this plan until after Intermission. What do the rest of you think about it? I'm still in the process of reading the other games, but I am really intrigued about the differences in this setup. Unfortunately, I think the first couple of days are going to be even more boring than usual because no one knows quite what to do or say. i see a lot of value in your suggestion. I can see scum wanting to partner up with Emily. I had decided to keep an eye on anyone asking her to dance for that reason. But if Emily is the last to choose, and has 2 guys wanting to dance with her, she has the power to make one of the guys die...and if he's scum, then he's out of the game. In that situation, it would be best to keep the towniest one. Tricky stuff can come into play here. 1/2 of the couples are scum couples? Is that right? Because 2 scum gentlemen and 1 scum lady -- they won't partner together....6 couples -- 3 are scum. No one should believe their partner is town (Unless Emily's date is town) ... and it would probably be best for town if couples didn't vote together because you can't trust your partner is town -- and if they seem like they are overly trying to persuade you to vote for someone, they might have diabolical reasons for it. Yeah -- I don't know. I just wanted a date and I was afraid I'd be dateless. I decided on Rosehorse when I signed up,and I don't regret it. If she's town I don't want people voting her off if she doesn't post much. If Rose is inactive I will vote for her.

It's possible that Lala picked Rose knowing that she doesn't tend to be active, so she would be less likely to read Lala in a chat or relay her thoughts in the game. I'll just tuck that thought into the back of my mind and not try to read too much into it yet.

Everyone at this dance seems insanely shy. Maybe we need a better band.
I have two more thoughts before I head off the for the night. Hopefully, more people will be active soon.
On page seven, Lala indicated that she didn't believe that scum would partner together, but we have to keep in mind that it is still a possibility that they would choose to do so for some reason; e.g., accepting the risks of dying together in exchange for the assurance that any non-scum partner wouldn't be trying to read them, rat them out, or commit suicide. (This is assuming that any of us have a better chance of reading people in private chats than in the public forum of the game.) Moreover, her numbers that assume we would end up with half scum pairings (three partners out of six) rely on the premise that there are two gentlemen scum and one lady scum and that the last gentleman left standing out in the cold proves to be town. She already acknowledged that Keyen didn't make that clear, although I tend to believe she's right about that assumption. It would also be lucky indeed to have that first guy to exit flip scum. If Lala's calculations are correct based on those assumptions, then my earlier comment about ladies not needing to worry about who they choose would really not be true, sad to say.
My other thought is a third alternative for Emzy the Innocent apart from the two we've already mentioned. I guess it's not so much an alternative as an additional role, if she is so inclined. One of the things she could do for town would be to assist with reads during this pre-dance phase. She could make suggestions about who she thinks might be town or scum and the remaining ladies could look to her from some trustworthy, untainted advice about which partner to choose. The gentleman that each lady ultimately decides to choose is her own business and she shouldn't disregard her own instincts, but Sister Emily could certainly be an asset rarely available at this stage of a game because her words can be taken completely at face value. After the other pairings are made, Em could then choose between the last two gentlemen. Lala could be right that Emily pairing with the least scummy might be a better move. It would reduce the likelihood of Em's suicide; but it also might make her more vulnerable during the Intermission. Assisting with town reads and dance partner choices would also mean that Em would need to commit to a strong and active presence in this initial stage of the game.
Of course, it's your call, Em. You don't have to listen to any of the three suggestions presented to you in the thread so far. You could certainly come up with yet another plan. It's just that your position is an opportunity and it would be a good idea not to waste it, whatever you end up deciding.
That's all I've got for now. Thank you for the delicious punch, Alleen! I'll sit next to you for a bit and maybe we can dance tomorrow.

3 Mafia Gentlemen/Ladies vs 10 Town Gentlemen/Ladies, Open setup. OOh -- Keyen ... I could have sworn there was something that said there were 2 mafia gentlemen and 1 mafia lady -- did I imagine that? Because that throws things off a bit for me. It's randomized. That means mafia could be all gentlemen/ladies, or one of them could be a gentleman/lady. There's no requirement for the mafia to have at least one lady.

Are we ladies not allowed to ask the men out? For shame, Keyen, for shame. I was actually afraid someone might ask lmaoo. I promote gender equality alright? but i guess it's just for the setup

Having an inactive partner = minimal chances that your partner will exit the dance.

It could just be an assumption based on the numbers, but yeah, from what I understood then, the Mafia would be completely randomized, so their gender composition could be anything Hmm..

You can hover over the display name with your mouse to see the username. Or you use the little blue guy to tag someone.
